Safety Afloat - Traffic Light System
PDSC/CHYF operate a saftey traffic light / flag system to inform sailors of the sailing conditions.
The flag system is based on tide, wind, visibility and the activity in question. The conditions are assessed by the race officer / duty office and the appropriate flag is displayed at the top of the slipway. Please note conditions can change quickly and all users should ensure their equipment and experience matches the activity and conditions and ask if not sure.
Green Conditions
Conditions are considered SUITABLE for all.
Club boats and equipment can be used – Please seek advice on which equipment is suitable and area where you can operate.
Orange Conditions
Conditions are seen as CHALLENGING – Please seek advice from the Duty officer before going afloat.
