Training Programme 2026
Come and learn to Sail on the picturesque Menai Strait.  During 2026 PDSC are offering a range of training courses. All training courses are subject to demand – additional courses will be offered subject to demand. All training programmes require the individual to be a current member of PDSC (Individual / Family / Junior / Youth). Pathway Training is open to members of any Welsh Sailing Club.

Adult RYA Stage 1 & 2

Mae ein cyrsiau hyfforddi Oedolion RYA yn cyfuno Lefel 1 a Lefel 2 RYA i roi'r sgiliau a'r hyder i chi hwylio a gwneud penderfyniadau mewn amodau da.
- Lefel 1 mewn Cychod Hwylio – Dechrau Hwylio – Cyflwyniad i gychod hwylio ar gyfer dechreuwyr llwyr, gan gwmpasu popeth sydd angen i chi ei wybod i fynd ar y dŵr dan oruchwyliaeth.
- Dinghi Lefel 2 – Sgiliau Sylfaenol – Adeiladu eich hyder a datblygu eich sgiliau.
Ar ôl cwblhau'r cwrs yn llwyddiannus, bydd gennych wybodaeth sylfaenol am hwylio a dylech fod yn gallu hwylio gan lansio / dychwelyd i'r traeth heb hyfforddwr mewn amodau da (gwyntoedd ysgafn / canolig).

RYA Iau Cam 1 a 2

Sgiliau sydd eu hangen – Dim
Fel arfer, cwblheir y cynllun Hwylio Iau/Ieuenctid mewn cychod bach sy'n addas ar gyfer maint yr hwyliwr (Optimist, RS Terra, Pico ac ati).
- Youth Sailing Scheme – Start Sailing Stage 1 – An introduction to the parts of the boat and the basic principles of how to get a boat sailing.
- Youth Sailing Scheme – Start Sailing Stage 2 – Develop the skills needed to sail around a course and understand the basic principles needed to become a confident sailor.
Ar ôl cwblhau'r cwrs yn llwyddiannus, byddwch yn gallu hwylio a gwneud penderfyniadau ar y dŵr ac oddi arno mewn amodau da.

Gweler Pathway page for details of the pathway programme. The coaching is being held across a series of 1 or 2 day sessions with the following dates currently confirmed. Friday Evening / Sunday Afternoon / Informal Class Coaching
At all Friday evening and Sunday afternoon open sailing sessions an experienced sailor / safety boat driver will be available to provide guidance and knowledge to those who which to develop their skill set in an informal manner.Â
Class coaching is run on an as required and self help basis using club facilities usually organised (often at short notice) through one of our class WhatsApp groups. Please contact through the club training e-bost.
Hyfforddiant Hyfforddwyr
Assistant Instructors (AI) Course is run alongside PD Pirates for junior/youth members wanting to develop their general skills and abilities. Aimed at potential Instructors – many of our previous AIs have gone on to work in the marine industry or gained part time paid employment teaching sailing. Normally this is a prerequisite for further certified training.
