The weekend of 4th & 5th July saw the Welsh ILCA Open Championships being held at Pwllheli. Pwllheli delivered its very best – Sunny, windy, big waves on the Saturday and a more leisurely 10-12kts and flat water on the Sunday.
A cracking 53-boat turnout with sailors coming from as far afield as Scotland and Weymouth, with the club out in force with racing completed across all 3 ILCA rig sizes.Â

ILCA 4 – Megan 4th, Evie 5th, Sophie 6th, Ellen 7th
ILCA 6 – Thomas 11th
ILCA 7 – Gordon 4th, John 7th, Rhys 8th, Mark 9th (cut short after a nasty head knock in race 2)
Also flying the flag on Sunday: Harry 12th and Harrison 19th in the ILCA 4 fleet.
The event was impeccably organised and run by the Venning family, and a massive thank you to all the club volunteers, Ken, Mandy, Molly, Russell, Mike, and especially Bethan, who pulled the whole thing together.
